This is officially the start of my first blog. I guess the purpose of starting this was so that I could attempt to impart a little bit of perspective; a doctrine of general hope that we as a species can be better and live in a world where joy and truth dictate our decisions rather than fear and ignorance. I don't consider ideas such as these to be lofty by any means. They are innate in all of us. The same way a coin has 2 sides. However, the society we live in attempts to manifest only the ideas that perpetuates itself, ultimately leading away from progress and stagnating, or even potentially receding. Yes, I woud have to say that is the point of all this. To let people know that, ultimately, they have the ability within themselves to change everything; the world, themselves, their friends, neighbors, and even their reality can be changed merely by freedom of thought.
The idea of hope and ideals is why I chose the title of this blog to be Castle in the Sky. It is an excert from Henry David Thoreau's Walden, "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where
they should be. Now put the foundations under them." It is with this attitude that people should walk through this world. Too often, people undermine themselves and shoot their ambitions low. They think of how very little they are in comparison to how big the world is and decide that lesser goals are more likely achieved and thus the increased success rate makes them better. Maybe people are afraid of aiming high, getting close, and falling too far down, or maybe they are just intimidated by the actual work involved in building their dreams. Either way the world, at least from what I have seen, has become completely saturated with underachievers who completely waste most of their cognitive ability. The level of intelligence that society portrays is not the level in contains. People everywhere have completely squandered their ability to learn and critically think, passively accepting the "truths" in their lives that somebody else informed them of. Sadly, most of these "truths" are lies. They are false boundaries outside forces impose on you that imprison your mind and curve your ambitions in a manageable direction. The only factor that really contributes to your future is you and you really can do anything. Not everybody can be a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer, but those aren't the real dreams of everybody. Most people do not even really want to do those jobs, they want the idea of that job, the prestige associated with it, or purely the income it would bring. If people would really look inside themselves and find something they could enjoy and engauges them, then they could find something that wouldn't seem so preposterous to dedicate their time, sweat, and effort to. Once you find something you love to do, in a huge world of opportunity and advancement, then motivation is automatic. Its not necessarily a job, it could be a hobby, a project, or a community group, but whatever it is, go for it. Everybody has the ability to make great things, the only thing stopping them are self imposed boundaries. Once those are eliminated, and you open yourself up to find other motivated people like your yourself, the world will begin to work in ways you never thought imaginable. Problems will arise, but they can be dealt with. Things will have to be pushed back, or altered, but if you really care about something, then that won't detour you. The first step towards advancement is the removal of society's false motivators and to make a step towards genuine ambition and zealousness.
